● FAQ

Questions, answered.

The most common questions we hear before, during, and after a filing.

  • What do I need to bring for my tax appointment?

Photo ID, Social Security cards for everyone on the return, all W-2s and 1099s, last year's return if you're new to us, and any documents for deductions or credits (mortgage interest, daycare, tuition, charitable giving, business expenses). If you're not sure, send what you have and we'll let you know what's missing.

  • How much does tax preparation cost?

Pricing depends on the forms your return requires. Simple federal + state returns start at a flat fee; small business and multi-state returns are quoted before any work begins. You'll always see the price before you sign.

  • Can I file my taxes with you remotely?

Yes. Most clients file with us without ever coming in. You upload documents to our secure portal, we prepare the return, we meet by video to walk through it, and you e-sign. We e-file the same day in most cases.

  • How long does it take to get my refund?

When you e-file with direct deposit, the IRS typically issues refunds within 21 days. State refunds vary. We give you the IRS confirmation number so you can track it yourself, and we follow up if anything stalls.

  • Do you handle small business and self-employment taxes?

Yes — Schedule C, single-member LLCs, partnerships (Form 1065), and S-corps (Form 1120-S). We also help with quarterly estimated payments so you're not surprised in April.

  • What if I haven't filed for several years?

We file back returns going back as far as the IRS requires, work with you on any balance owed, and request penalty abatements where you qualify. Bring whatever records you have; we'll request transcripts for the rest.

  • Are you available year-round or only during tax season?

Year-round. Audits, notices, amendments, quarterly estimates, and bookkeeping don't stop after April 15 — and neither do we.

  • What notary services do you provide?

Power of attorney, wills and trusts, real estate documents, affidavits, and acknowledgements. Bring valid government-issued photo ID and your unsigned documents — we'll witness the signing and apply the seal.

  • Is my information safe?

Yes. We use an encrypted client portal for document exchange, IRS-compliant data handling, and never email sensitive documents. Physical files are stored locked and shredded after the retention window.

  • Do you offer refund advances or RAL loans?

We focus on accurate filing and direct deposit, which is the fastest legitimate way to get your refund. We can talk through bank product options if your situation calls for one.
